OREANDA-NEWS. February 08, 2013. In January 2013, 71.8 million passengers departed from Russian Railways’ stations, 1.6% more than in January 2012. Long-distance passenger numbers were down 3.3% to 8.8 million, while suburban services saw an increase of 2.3% to 63 million passengers, reported the press-centre of RZD.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways’ network in January 2013 fell by 2.6% compared to January 2012 to 10.1 bn passenger-km, including 8 bn long-distance passengers, a decline of 3.5%, and suburban passengers, whose numbers increased by 0.9% to 2.1 bn.
