OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus’ average wage in nominal terms reached 4,741,300 Belarusian rubles (Br) in December 2012, or USD 549 at the monthly average rate of the National Bank (Br8,640/USD 1), up 11.7% month-on-month, an official with the National Statistics Committee told.

In real terms [adjusted for the increase in the consumer prices], the average monthly wage went up 10.2% on the month. In January-December 2012, the average wage grew 21.9% on the year.

The highest average salary in the country is in Minsk – Br6.286 million (USD 728, up 15.4% on month).

Regionally, the highest average salary is in Minsk Region - Br4.529 million (USD 524, up 8% on month), while the lowest average salary reported from Brest Region – Br4.159 million (USD 481, up 10.3%).

In manufacturing industries, monthly wages averaged out at 5.277 million rubles (USD 611), in construction 5.567 million rubles (USD 644), in transport and telecoms 5.392 million rubles (USD 624), in agriculture 3.396 million rubles (USD 393).

The highest average salary in Belarus’ industries in December 2012 was Br10.03 million - USD 1,161 (production of oil, nuclear materials and coke), Br 7.334 million - USD 849 (production of chemicals), Br6.895 million - USD 798, Br6.042 million - USD 699 (metallurgy), Br5.882 million - USD 681 (automotive industry).
