OREANDA-NEWS. As part of its endeavour to support its communities, Tata Power recently supported two Grampanchayat- Inglun and Wadeshwar from Maval Catchment for drinking water scheme sanctioned under National Rural Drinking Water Program.

The Zilla Parishad sanctions drinking water schemes to villagers who have available water source. The scheme is designed and sanctioned by Zilla Parishad. The Garmpanchyat is then requested to pay an initial amount of 10%. The cost being huge the Grampanchyat is not in a position to pay the amount. Tata Power on behalf of the Grampanchyat lends a helping hand and helped pay the amount of 10% to the Zilla Parishad. The schemes are designed for a period of 25 years and thus assure water at the door step of villages.

For Inglun, the total project cost is Rs 48,06,820 and for Wadeshwar it is Rs. 49,70,265. Tata Power has provided the 10 % amount for both the schemes. Both schemes together will benefit around 3800 villagers till 2027. Tata Power since 1980 has helped 24 villages in Mulshi and 20 villages in Maval to get water at their door steps. Over 14000 villagers have been benefited through these schemes.

Speaking on the initiative,Mr Mahesh Paranjpe-Head Hydros said, “This initiative in Hydro to support through 10% contribution is a good example of Public private Partnership project for improving the lives of local community in our catchment villages. It will be our endeavour to support many such value-adding initiatives”.
