BHEL Wins Rs.28,540 Million Mega Contract
OREANDA-NEWS. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged a prestigious contract for supply of the Steam Generator Package for three coal-fired thermal units of 660 MW each with supercritical parameters.
Valued at Rs.28,540 Million, the order has been placed on BHEL by Nabinagar Power Generation Company Limited (NPGCL - a Joint Venture of NTPC Limited and Bihar State Electricity Board), for the upcoming 1,980 MW Nabinagar Supercritical Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Bihar.
Significantly, this is the second supercritical thermal power project being executed by BHEL in Bihar, the first being the 2x660 MW Barh STPP Stage-II of NTPC, which is in an advanced stage of completion. With this order, the customer has reposed confidence in the company’s technological excellence as also its capability in executing power projects of this magnitude.
The order reinforces BHEL's leadership status in the execution of supercritical thermal power projects involving supply of state-of-art equipment, suited to Indian coal and Indian conditions. With this contract, BHEL has now won orders for supply and installation of 21 nos. of Supercritical Steam Generators of 660 MW, 700 MW and 800 MW ratings.
The other major contracts involving supply of supercritical sets presently under execution by BHEL include 2x660 MW Barh Thermal Power Project Stage-II of NTPC, 3x660 MW Bara Thermal Power Project of Prayagraj Power Generating Company Limited, a part of Jaypee Group, 2x800 MW Yeramarus & 1x800 MW Edlapur Thermal Power projects of Raichur Power Corporation Limited, 1x700 MW Bellary Thermal Power Project of KPCL, 3x660 MW Lalitpur Thermal Power Project from Bajaj Group, 2x800 MW Krishnapatnam Thermal Power Project of APGenco, 2x660 MW Singrauli STPP of Dainik Bhaskar Power Limited and 2x660 MW Mouda STPP Stage- II of NTPC.
BHEL has been committed to the nation’s power development programme and has reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian Power Sector by equipping itself by way of contemporary technology, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and skilled technical manpower. Significantly, the company has established the capability to deliver power plant equipment of 20,000 MW per annum.
