Export of Ukraine Sunflower Oil Grew by 33%
OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2013. For now oil industry remains one of the most successful in agrarian sector of Ukraine. So, the previous year production of unrefined oil grew by 18%, while export – by 33% in comparison to 2011.
In general in 2012 production of sunflower oil totaled 3.78 million tons while 3.6 million tons were supplied to the foreign markets. This was stated by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk.
“Ukraine keeps leading positions in export of sunflower oil in the world. So, on the results of 2012 national agrarians produced record 3.78 million tons oil that is up by 18% as compared to 2011. At this export of sunflower-seed oil significantly increased. In particular, in 2012 Ukrainian agricultural producers supplied to the foreign markets 3.6 million tons, which is by 33% more than the previous year,” Mykola Prysyazhniuk emphasized.
The Minister stressed last years’ cost of exported sunflower oil grew by 26% or by over USD 800 million as compared to 2011. Main countries-importers in 2012 have become India (over 30%), Egypt (over 10%), EU countries (around 20%), Iran (over 6%) and Turkey (6%). Moreover, the head of the department underlined that in the current time Ukraine is working at broadening of trade and economic relations with the People’s Republic of China and other countries. Overall Ukraine exports sunflower oil to 90 countries of the world.
