Ukraine Increased its Corn Exports by 21,5%
OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2013. Domestic agrarians exported 7.95 million tonnes of corn, if to compare with the same period in 2011/2012 marketing year it is up 1.4 million tonnes or 21.5%. As for the export of grain, the actual volume of shipments to foreign markets account for 16.25 million tonnes. This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
"The 2012 grain harvest has not only ensured food security in the country, but also consolidated our leading position in the international market. Thus, the projected exports of grain crops in the current marketing year are estimated at 23.2 million tonnes. And as of February 3, 2013 domestic agrarians have already supplied to foreign markets over 16.25 million tonnes of grain", Mykola Prysyazhnyuk noted.
The Minister informed that to date 7.95 million tonnes of corn, 6.04 million tones of wheat and 1.98 million tonnes of barley have been exported.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk also recalled that among the countries of the world grain market Ukraine takes 4th place for export of corn (12.9% of world exports), 8th place for export of wheat place (4.5%), 4th place for export of barley (18.5%).
As for the prospects of Ukraine in the world market the increasing of exports of processed products, products produced in Ukraine with added value is expected.
