OREANDA-NEWS. CROC has upgraded an electronic document management system within the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat). CROC's Virtual Data Center computing capacities were used to test the system and train the client’s users.

"The document management solution on the EMC Documentum platform was implemented at Rosstat a year ago and this year we connected all of our 82 regional branches to the system. So far, approximately 80,000 documents have been filed in the system since going live, and approximately 500 people operate the system simultaneously. Given the high document growth rates of nearly 600 documents per day, the system load will increase in the near future," comments Mikhail Burdakov, Head of Information Resources and Technology, Rosstat.

"The solution offered by CROC helps Rosstat switch to paperless document management1 within its branches and when interacting with other agencies. The registration of all documents helps control execution progress, with the system offering simple and quick search options in order to improve employee performance. Assigned task execution is easy to monitor for Rosstat managers thanks to a fixed document lifecycle," says Alexey Dobrovolsky, Software Development Director, CROC. Ruslan Zaedinov, Deputy Director General, Head of Data Centers, CROC, adds: "Initially, it was planned to arrange remote employee training on how to operate the system using a test-bench based on Rosstat's own computing capacities. However, the client did not have the required capacity for a training environment. We thus had to find the right hardware to run such a large-scale solution and we had to do it ASAP. We managed to do this thanks to CROC's Virtual Data Center, which once again proved to be the right solution for a situation like this. Remote access to CROC's servers was easily organized via the Internet using a standard web browser. Overall, we trained approximately 200 key users from Rosstat regional branches."
