Renewable Energy Consumption Reaches 14,9% in Estonia
OREANDA-NEWS. February 05, 2013. Renewable energy constituted 14.9 percent of Estonia's gross power consumption last year, up two percentage points since 2011.
Altogether, renewable energy production in Estonia reached 1.37 terawatt-hours, an increase of 18 percent from the year before, according to a statement from Elering, the state's transmission system operator.
In 2009, renewable energy made up just 6 percent of total electricity output in Estonia, which produces the large majority of its energy from oil shale.
