OREANDA-NEWS. February 1, 2013. Built by ISS-Reshetnev and intended for the communications spacecraft Lybid, the payload module structure arrived safely at the Canadian company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd.

Canadian engineers will install the repeater system on the structure, including 30 Ku-band transponders. The next step will be the integration of the payload module with the satellite platform, which is to take place at the Reshetnev Company’s premises.

The telecommunications spacecraft Lybid is being built jointly by ISS-Reshetnev and MDA in the interest of Ukraine. Within the framework of this project the Reshetnev Company is responsible for the development, manufacture and testing of the satellite, as well as its pre-launch preparations and in-orbit commissioning.

Lybid is based on the ISS-Reshetnev-developed middle-class Express-1000HT platform. Having a designed lifespan of 15 years, the satellite will provide modern communications, television and radio broadcasting services in the territory of Ukraine, European countries, Africa and the Indian region.
