Belarus Posts 1.9% Inflation for 15 Days of January
OREANDA-NEWS. February 1, 2013. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 1.9% over the first 15 days of January 2013, the National Statistics Committee told.
The largest increase in retail prices was registered with tobacco goods (17.2%), vodka (3.8%), low-fat cottage cheese (2.1%), wheat flour (1.9%), pasta, beer (1.5%), condensed milk with sugar, melted cheese, bread and bakery goods, oat flakes, semolina, chocolate (0.9-1.2%), telecom services (20%), economy-class regional railway tickets (16.7%), long-distance railway tickets (7.4%), health vacations (8.4%).
The price of fresh-grown tomatoes grew 12.7%, fresh cucumbers - 12.1%, beet roots – 9.6%, white cabbage - 9.4%, carrots - 7.8%, onions – 5.1%, potatoes - 3.4%, bananas – 6.3%, apples – 3.6%.
As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 21.8% in 2012. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stood at 19-22%.
