OREANDA-NEWS. February 01, 2013. FSC approved the National Risk Assessments (NRA) for the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and Ukraine. All new NRAs will become effective on February 1, 2013. The approved risk assessments have been conducted for all forest types, covering all 5 Controlled Wood categories, as FSC said in a press release received by Lesprom Network.

They are applicable for companies seeking to identify risks of sourcing Controlled Wood from forests in the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and Ukraine based on the standard for Company Evaluation of FSC Controlled Wood (FSC-STD-40-005 Version 2-1).

Companies that have already conducted risk assessments for forests in these countries will have a period of up to 12 months after the effective date to align their Controlled Wood verification program to the new requirements.

FSC accredited certification bodies are responsible for informing their clients of the changes.

The risk assessments will be uploaded to the Global Forest Registry. The FSC Global Forest Registry is an online tool providing companies with easy access to available public information in more than 150 countries.

FSC is a global, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide.
