OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2013. Moscow Domodedovo Airport put into operation air field fire-engine vehicles of a new model: 5 modern lorries were purchased in January 2013 (SCANIA chassis-based, model Rosenbauer ARFF FLF 1100 BUFALLO). This model of lorries is specially intended for quick control of the large flames bases on the territory of airports and meets environmental not less than EURO–4 requirements.

New equipment is to replace units taken out of operation. At present airport search and rescue service (fire service is a part of it) possesses 13 units of air field fire-engine vehicles.

New air field fire-engine vehicles acquisition improves the efficiency of airport search and rescue service activities, shortens response time in emergency situations. New modern fire trucks gather speed up to 125 kph, move along various types of ground (crossed, complaint, hilly, sand, etc.), the grade ability, have advanced facilities for complicated weather conditions. All these factors increase fire service mobility and shorten response time (including in lower temperature conditions).

Simplicity and quickness of the extinguishing agent supply is a major advantage of new trucks. Remotely controlled system of foam extinguishing allows to control electrically and operate extinguishing of fire from the vehicle. External-located “quick start button” allows to start engine out of cabin.

These lorries shall be used with all types of foaming concentrates and water. Lorries possess two part reservoir with internal battles for preventing from formation of the water waves: the water reservation with capacity 9 530 liters and the foam concentrate with capacity 1270 liters. Uninterrupted pump work allows to start extinguish of fire at once without delay — even on move.

According to opinion of experts cabin design is an additional plus of model Rosenbauer ARFF FLF 1100 BUFALLO. Cabin consists of six seats for fire brigade and four doors. This significantly shortens embarkation/disembarkation time.

Domodedovo continually improves airport search and rescue service facilities and equipment that helps raise readiness of airport services to react efficiently in various situations.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport — is the largest one of Russia, in 2012 airport served 28,2 million people. It joins the category of the largest airports in Europe on the classification of the Airports Council International (ACI). Domodedovo is chosen for flights by member airlines of two largest global airline alliances – oneworld and Star Alliance.
