SSE Renewables 4,000 Ponds Donation to Tilbury Riverside Project
OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2013. Tilbury Riverside Project is receiving a Ј4,000 donation from SSE Renewables, who are currently constructing four wind turbines at the Port of Tilbury. The grant is part of the company’s commitment to ongoing community involvement, and will provide invaluable assistance to the charity as they undertake their ongoing community work.
The wind farm is a partnership between SSE Renewables and the Port of Tilbury, and will generate around 50% of the Port’s electricity needs. Turbines are due to arrive on site early next month, with the project expected to be completed by the end of April.
Martin Sweeney, SSE Renewables Project Manager, said: “SSE Renewables is always keen to develop strong links in the communities where we work, and we’re delighted to be able to contribute to the Tilbury Riverside Project, a charity with such a strong presence in the local area. ”
Annie O’Brien, from Tilbury Riverside Project explains how the grant will help with their ongoing work in the local community: “This funding is a real boost to the Tilbury Riverside Project, and will go a long way to helping us with our ongoing work to create Civic Pride for the town. We’re involved in quite a few different local initiatives, for example the Heritage Days, the Tilbury and Chadwell Memories project and the recent annual Christmas Lights party.
As all of these projects require funding, we are very grateful to SSE for their donation to our ongoing local initiatives.”
