OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2013. Moldova has met deadlines for all procedures necessary to launch the construction of gas pipe-line Ungheni-Iasi, Valeriu Lazar. When asked by journalists briefing, the Minister of Economy answered that in a very short period of time Moldova managed to purchase land lots gas pipeline Ungheni-Iasi to be laid down through.

“Due to uncontrolled reasons this process in Romania has been dragged out. But we have to synchronize all processes so as in March, 2013 to announce a tender to select a builder of the gas pipeline”, Valeriu Lazar said.

The construction of gas pipeline Unheni-Iasi has been budgeted for 120 million leis in 2013. Investments in the construction will total close to 19 million euros. The maximal transporting capacity of the gas pipeline Iasi-Ungheni will amount to 1.5 billion c.m. per year; its Romanian segment length will be 32.79 kilometres (43.2 km in total), the pressure will equal to 15-66 bar.

As it was said earlier, construction of the main gas pipeline Ungheni-Iasi is designed to provide interconnection of national gas transporting systems of Moldova and Romania, strengthen energy safety of the two states and diversify sources and routes of gas supply to Moldova.
