Bashneft Opens New Oil Field in Western Bashkortostan
OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2013. Bashneft opened a new oil deposit located in Khasanovskoye license area which was named after Vladimir Afanasyev, former chief geologist of Bashneft.
Recoverable C1+C2 reserves at Afanasyev field were estimated at 3.8 mln. tons (including C1 – 0.6 mln. tons, C2 – 3.2 mln. tons) following the testing of two prospecting holes. The test results were approved by the State Reserves Committee.
In December 2008 Bashneft won the tender for Khasanovskoye area located in Bakalinsky region in the western part of Bashkortostan. The area shares a border with Kalayevskoye, Mustafinskoye and Ardatovskoye oil fields already developed by Bashneft.
2D seismic found two promising structures, namely Zarechnaya and Ikskaya. In 2012 Bashneft found oil flows from sediments of Bobrikovskian horizon at two exploration wells of these deposits. Currently both wells produce nearly 80 tons per day as part of the production testing and have a strong potential for oil production growth.
"The success of Khasanovskoye area convincingly shows bright prospects of further exploration activities in Bashkortostan with the help of modern seismic technologies, - Vice President for Geology and Development Yuri Krasnevsky said. – Although the previous four exploration wells were a failure, the Company specialists penetrated the reservoir with unique permeability at the first try based on the comprehensive 2D seismic analysis and stratigraphic drilling for the upper part of the profile".
In 2013 Bashneft carried out 3D seismic throughout the territory of Khasanovskoye area in order to clarify Afanasyev field limits. Bashneft also expects to complete drilling a new exploration hole and to drill four horizontal wells as part of the test production project.
