OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2013. Valentin Borisovich Ivanov, who previously was the First Deputy General Director of VNIINM (included in the management structure of TVEL, fuel company of Rosatom), took the office of VNIINM General Director in accordance with resolution of VNIINM Board of Directors.

V.B. Ivanov was born on April 28, 1941 in Balashov, Saratov Region. In 1963, he graduated from the Faculty of Automatics and Telemechanics of Kuibyshev Polytechnic Institute.

From 1963, he worked at the Research Institute of Nuclear Reactors (NIIAR), Dimitrovgrad. He became NIIAR Director in 1989.

From 1998 to 2002 V.B. Ivanov held the office of the First Deputy Minister at the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy.

From 1989 to 1991 he was a deputy of the USSR Congress of People’s Deputies.

From 2003 to 2007 he was elected a deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

V.B. Ivanov was awarded USSR and Russian orders and medals.

From 1994 to 1996 he was elected to hold the office of the President of the Nuclear Society of Russia.

V.B. Ivanov is Ph.D. in technical sciences, academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, holder of the honourable title of honoured worker of science and technology of the Russian Federation. He authored more than 200 scientific works and inventions. He supervised the development of a system for complex control of elements in the reactor core of nuclear power plants to solve certain problems of nuclear materials science.

Acting General Director Yuri Tuzov will continue working at VNIINM in the capacity of the First Deputy Director General.
