OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2013. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft State program of handling waste products for 2013 – 2020. A respective order № 22-р was approved during a sitting of the Government.

According to the official data in Ukraine it has been accumulated around 36 billion tons of wastes or over 50 thousand tons per 1 square meter of the territory out of which only 30% industrial wastes and 4% household wastes are utilized. The amounts of creating, storage, utilization and disposal of wastes are constantly precised with accounting for criteria of relating them to the kinds and classes of danger.

The Program is called to ensure implementation of measures in decreasing of wastes, their collection, carrying, storage, processing, utilization, disposal and landfilling with an aim to prevent negative impact on the environment and health of people and introduction of up-to-date equipment.

Implementation of the Program will contribute to drawing investments into the area of handling wastes, creating modern infrastructure in this area, improvement of the state of environment and also sanitary and epidemic welfare of population, introduction of modern technologies of utilization and disposal of solid household wastes, decrease of amounts of disposal in landfills etc.
