OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2013. In London (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) official talks have been held between the delegation of Ukraine led by the director of strategic policy, investment and nuclear-power complex of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry Mykola Konstantinov and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD ).

Its objective is to obtain the loan of 300 million euros for implementation of the project "Integrated (consolidated) program to improve the safety of nuclear power units". As a result of negotiations is the initialling of the Guarantee Agreement between Ukraine and the EBRD and Loan Agreement between state enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company ENERGOATOM and EBRD.

It should be noted that it is also planned in February of the next year to hold negotiations with EURATOM to obtain a loan of 300 million euros for the implementation of this project.

The project will help to boost the safety of all nuclear power units in Ukraine. Measures to improve safety are implemented on an ongoing basis. On 07.12.2011 the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution № 1270 on the approval of the Comprehensive (consolidated) program to improve the safety of nuclear power reactors (the Program), the purpose of which is to bring the reactors to international standards and to prevent the events of March 2011, that had happened at the nuclear power plant Fukushima-1.
