OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2013. Quality refined products, reliability and international recognition are some of the achievements of Petroleos de Venezuela, S,A. –PDVSA, through its laboratories of the Paraguana Refinery Complex (Centro de Refinacion Paraguana – CRP), located in Falcon state, upon implementing the ISO standard ISO/IEC 17025/2005 which refers to testing and calibration, by the National Autonomous Service for Standardization, Quality, Metrology and Technical Regulations (Servicio Autonomo Nacional de Normalizacion, Calidad, Metrologia y Reglamentos tecnicos - Sencamer).

The Bolivarian Government published a mandatory resolution on the standard ISO /IEC 17025/2005, establishing the ideal structure and the tools for a quality management system which would guarantee trusted testing and results in Venezuela’s laboratories.

The team of technicians and engineers at the Paraguana Refinery Complex, driven by their vision of ongoing improvement and a quality policy, adjusted each and every one of the areas of the Amuay and Cardon laboratories in order to meet this standard which guarantees the quality of refined products demanded by domestic and international markets.

This initiative was headed by Franklin Valles, quality management coordinator, along with the laboratories’ personnel. It involved a permanent training plan to update knowledge and maintain excellence in each of the operations, following the socialist company’s guidelines of providing security and development of the Nation’s productive areas.

Among the concrete results is the reduction of risks and repetition in testing and calibrations. For the pride of the workers of the refinery complex, this achievement implies acquiring new clients who will trust their ability and productivity, producing petroleum byproducts which meet the standards.

Domestically, the labs of the Paraguana complex have been pioneers in adjusting to this standard which Sencamer regulates. This experience is being transferred to the rest of Venezuela’s refinery circuit.

The labs of the Paraguana Refinery Complex are now positioned as a world reference in the application of a quality system in accordance to the user’s needs.

The CRP is leading the country down a path of sustained growth of its industries, following the specifications and requirements which dictate the good development of productive activities.
