POSCO Reorganizes E-Learning Operation Focusing on Learner
OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2013. POSCO has decided to proactively support fostering one-to-five talent by reorganizing its e-learning operation focusing on the learner, reported the press-centre of POSCO.
While non-standard learning demands are increasing with employees simultaneously carrying out tasks and learning in parallel, and specialty knowledge is being required in various fields, employees are increasingly having the need to find and study fields that they must improve in.
Accordingly, POSCO will provide various academic opportunities necessary for fostering `one-to-five` talent by utilizing POSCO e-learning.
Particularly this year, the POSCO Future Creation Academy has greatly improved learning standards centered on the learner. According to the newly applied standards, learners can start courses whenever needed and complete them with results as soon as all lectures are completed. Restrictions on the daily number of courses and lessons that can be taken were also removed so that focused learning is possible. However, government supported courses will follow the previous standards, and language courses will be updated in March.
The method of providing materials for education in a one-way form from the education department to employees will also be improved. Employees will create UCC (user created contents) on their knowledge and work know-how and share it with others to encourage interactive learning.
Such interactive learning courses are expected to strengthen the knowledge and know-how of participants, while increasing their pride in sharing with colleagues.
Also, content composition will be developed according to new information and communication technology (ICT). In addition to the U-Campus course which utilizes smart phones, G-learning which involves games for learning will also be introduced. The two ethics and security courses which all employees mandatorily complete will be provided in the form of a game starting in February.
Redundancy and inefficiency of on-site education was improved greatly last year, and e-learning and on-site education is also being efficiently mixed this year so that information acquisition takes place through e-learning ahead of time, and on-site education is used for debates and discussions to solve issues.
Also, e-learning, which is based on online media, is increasing the ability to respond in the rapidly changing management environment by delivering major issues both internally and externally, such as management status and management philosophies, based on its high approachability and quickness.
e-Learning is offered to approximately 70,000 members of POSCO, domestic and overseas investing companies, outsourcing partner companies, and related small and medium companies, and has displayed high results of marking 70% of POSCO employees` learning in 2012. This year, POSCO will raise the quality of e-learning courses offered to maximize results, and also improve content and operation of courses to create management results based on the learning.
