OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2013. Cargo carriers of all kinds transported 617.3 thou. t in December, 41.7% down as compared with November and 18.6% down as compared with last December. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the most drastic decline was registered in railway transportation:

9.5% down to 4 mln. 122.7 thou. t. A biggest share of all cargoes loaded at railway stations of Moldova fell on ferrous metal and scrap and made up 27% against 22.8% recorded the past year), building materials and cement (22.5% against 16.4% ), and crops and flour production (20.2% against 36.1%). An amount of motor car transportation increased by 2.8% to 5.5 mln. 545.5 thou. in January-December, 2012.

The most amounts of cargo were transported by companies from Chisinau and Balti (47.9% and 10.3% respectively) and by carriers from regions of Orhei (7.5%), Singera (6.7%), Nisporeni (4.4%), Straseni (4%), Anenii Noi (3.4%),Soroca (2%), Taraclia (2%), Rezina (1.7%) and Ialoveni (1.7%). Within this period it was transported 144.2 thousand tons by river transport, 3.3% down as compared with 2011 and 1.6 thousand tons by air, 1.9% down.
