OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2013. Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company has been carrying out various activities with the aim to improve educational outcome for children from its surrounding communities, especially in the tribal region. In another such effort, Tata Power, along with Adivasi Marshal Samiti, is conducting coaching and tuition classes for children under solar lights in Sarjamda village.

The children from the village are unable to study during the night as electricity supply is intermittent and many of the children don't have sufficient space under the little light to study. These tuition classes will ensure that the children do not miss out on their education due to logistic issues.

To provide further exposure to these students, 130 children from the village were also taken on an educational excursion. The tour was organised to educate children on various species of animals and birds at the Tata Zoological Park, following which they were taken to Nicco Park for some fun and games.

Speaking on the event, DS Kudalkar, head, Jojobera station, said, “It is important that from an early age children should get exposure on different aspects of environment and ecology. Such small measures boost confidence of children and help in broadening their thinking. Tata Power will continue to take every step to support and bring into mainstream the children from its surrounding communities.”
