OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2013. Since the first railway train ticket successfully paid in China on June 11, 2011 via ICBC Internet Banking, travelers now accept this new type of service to buy and pay train tickets. Business turnover also reaches record level, reported the press-centre of ICBC.

As of end of 2012, nearly 43.81 million train tickets have been paid through ICBC online ticketing payment system to a tune of RMB 7.85 billion. Among the banks in China, ICBC captured the largest market share of train tickets paid online, offering speedy, highly efficient electronic payment services to all train passengers in China.

Passengers who choose to buy train tickets online and pay through Internet Banking are welcomed to login the website of China Railway customer service center (http://www.12306.com/) and register, follow the instructions to check and book train tickets, then they can use the ICBC card already signing up Internet Banking to pay online. Railway authority will send the details of the tickets to the buyers via email or SMS.

Travelers can use own identity card to collect the paper train tickets at any railway ticketing office. At the train stations of Beijing-Tianjin inter-city line and Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail equipped with devices to check second-generation identity cards, travelers are allowed to use the second-generation identity card (used when buying the ticket) at the automatic ticket-checking device to enter or exit the train station.

In a period of whizzed technological progress in mobile communication and wireless network during the last few years, ICBC expands its mobile financial services to all mobile phone users. In the next step, ICBC will spend consistent effort to innovate the online ticketing payment system, mobile payment app will be available for smart phone (Android cell phones and iPhone) users to buy train tickets. The goal is to open another important service channel for customers to buy train tickets online.
