OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2013. The Moldovan Economics Ministry launched a communication platform to ensure a continuous exchange of economic and commercial information with its economic partners within diplomatic missions and economic international organizations.

According to the ministry's press service, the communication platform "Economic Diplomatic Club" is available to all interested institutions. The platform will be endowed with a flexible format and will be coordinated by the Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organisation (MIEPO), which will handle all the information requests sent by investors and foreign trade partners.

"Besides technical discussions on investment and trade opportunities, the Economic Diplomatic Club is also offering the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of all the foreign diplomats who are in Moldova and from information on their countries' evolution. For example, one may find out what actions foreign governments take in order to overcome world economic issues," Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar said.

Lazar said representatives of foreign and local development agencies are also invited to attend the meetings of the club, in order to coordinate initiatives, discuss financing needs and opportunities to obtain additional external support as well as learn best practices in the field.

More than 30 representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations, including ambassadors, economic and political councillors backed the initiative, welcoming the opportunity to have the MIEPO as a single contact reference, where investors' conflicts with some state institutions could be settled and foreign companies could request information on local partners. The participants in the meeting came up with practical suggestions as regards the organisation and the establishment of discussion topics, asking leaders of economic institutions to participate in discussions on this platform.

The MIEPO will collect discussion topics of common interest from economic and trade councillors of foreign embassies to Moldova, in order to set up the agenda of the platform. The officials were also required to present the contacts of companies from their countries, in order to plan a potential investment in Moldova. The meetings of the club will take place on a monthly basis after the agenda is concluded. The officials will visit concrete investment objects, such as free economic zones and the Giurgiulesti International Free Port.
