OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2013. At the Tallinn TV Tower public presentation of the first Estonian satellite ESTCube-1 will be held. For the first and last time, the public will have an access to the satellite which will fly out to the space in April and will begin its journey to the European space port in French Guiana on the same night.

The project supervisor Mart Noorma, project manager Silver Latt, Pekka Janhunen, inventor of the electric solar sail, and other involved persons will deliver their speeches.

The first Estonian space satellite ESTCube-1 is ready. Before it is transported to French Guiana, the team of the Estonian student satellite project will present the outcome of their work done over the past five years to the public and representatives of media.

The project supervisor Mart Noorma along with the students involved in the construction of the satellite, the foreign partners and representatives of the companies that supported the project will introduce the satellite, the efforts made to construct it and the further steps leading to the space journey of the first Estonian space satellite in the first week of April. Dr. Pekka Janhunen from the Finnish Meteorological Institute, inventor of the electric solar sail, will also have the floor to provide an overview of the potential future applications of the innovative spacecraft engine to be tested on the board of ESTCube-1. After presentations, it will be possible to take photos of the satellite and conduct interviews.
