OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2013. ``POSCO Humans,`` formed by merger between POSWITH and POSECOHousing, held their launching ceremony, reported the press-centre of POSCO. 

The ceremony, held at the main auditorium of POSCO headquarters, was attended by 150 people attended including Pohang Steelworks head Bongrae Cho, President Seongkyu Lee of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, Pohang Employment Office head Hanbong Yu of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency Business Division head Jonggak Kim, and others to congratulate the launching of POSCO Humans.

POSCO merged POSWITH and POSECOHousing, which were established to ``create jobs for the vulnerable`` into ``POSCO Humans,`` and plans to more systematically and broadly carry out POSCO Family`s social contribution activities, as well as carry out model execution of the government`s policies of ``Standard Business for the Disabled`` and ``Social Enterprises to hire Vulnerable Classes.``

``POSWITH`` was the first subsidiary type of standard business for the disabled, established in 2007 by a conglomerate to create jobs for the disabled, and currently employs 180 disabled employees (52%) of the total of 344 employees, and has been evaluated as a success case in providing a successful model of a standard business for the disabled.

In 2009, POSCO also established the country`s first independent social enterprise, ``POSECOHousing,`` offering sustainable and stable jobs for vulnerable classes including the elderly and multi-culture families, and of the 191 jobs created, 103 employees (54%) are from vulnerable classes.

POSCO Humans will maximize synergy between divisions based on cooperation and secure a stable independent base, and based on this, focus efforts on creating more social value by addressing current regional issues such as creating jobs, supporting vulnerable classes, and improving welfare for the disabled.

In addition, the company plans on continuously creating jobs through growth by aiming to reach 33 billion KRW in sales this year, while expanding employment of vulnerable classes to 324 employees by 2015.
