OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2013. Volga-Dnepr Technics’ specialists needed only 14 hours to repair the damaged nose radome of a Yakutia Airlines’ Boeing 737NG, demonstrating the enhanced capacity of its maintenance operation in Moscow.

The repair of nose radome was carried out on the maintenance base of Volga-Dnepr Technics at Sheremetyevo Airport. The damaged part was delivered there on the night of 21 to 22 December from Vnukovo airport. Next morning maintenance crew started repairing works. The construction repair works included restoration of the external and internal composite covering with replacement of a cellular filler and restoration refinishing. On the same day an aviation component was ready to ship back to the customer.

The average time to repair a damaged nose radome of any aircraft is about 38 hours. Performing this type of repair works in such a short time is a record. Yakutia Airlines representatives commended the quality of the services provided. The damaged component was delivered to Volga-Dnepr Technics at Sheremetyevo Airport at 2330hrs and the maintenance crew successfully completed by repair by the next morning. The construction repair works included restoration of the external and internal composite covering with replacement of a cellular filler and restoration refinishing.

Volga-Dnepr Technics’ specialists coped with the task in just over half a day and the component was repaired quickly and efficiently. This project was within our maintenance agreement under which VDT specialists carry out services on the airline’s aircraft such as endoscopic inspection of aircraft engines, work on diagnostics and nondestructive testing, and carry out construction repair," says Valentin Sleptsov, the deputy head of Yakutia Airlines at Vnukovo Airport.
