OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2013. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev met with Swiss Deputy Energy Minister Walter Steinmann at Company’s Head office.
 Welcoming the Deputy Minister and Swiss delegation, Mr. Abdullayev noted the close cooperation relations between the two countries and thanked for the support for implementing projects in Switzerland. Walter Steinmann emphasized the important role of energy issues in cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland. According to him, Switzerland attaches special importance to transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe, provision of energy security and supports Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project among the projects on gas transportation. In the course of the meeting, Mr. Steinmann also informed Mr. Abdullayev about the activity of Switzerland for implementation of the TAP project. In turn, Mr. Abdullayev noted that Azerbaijan is interested in diversification of routes for exporting natural gas and in the energy security of Europe. As he stated, Azerbaijan equally considers all existing routes of gas export to Europe.

Stating the importance of the projects SOCAR implements in Switzerland, Mr. Steinmann noted that there are good prospects for cooperation of the parties in the sphere of petrochemicals and renewable energy sources.

The sides exchanged views on other issues that cause their interest.
