Ukraine Implements Obligations of Plan on EU Visa Liberalization
OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2013. A Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko, on commission of the head of the Government Mykola Azarov, held an interdepartmental meeting which concerned issues of implementation of the Action Plan directed to liberalization of the EU visa regime for Ukraine.
The event gathered representatives of leadership of Justice Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Culture Ministry, the State Immigration Service and other executive authorities.
On the outcomes of the meeting the terms and those responsible for the implementation of the points of the first stage of the Action Plan according to which Ukraine continues implementation of its obligations were determined. The President of Ukraine personally supervises the activity in realization of the Action Plan on liberalization of the visa regime for Ukraine and views removing visa barriers for Ukrainians travelling to Europe among the top priorities of the authority,” Kostyantyn Gryshchenko emphasized.
At this, he called on the respective departments to not only accelerate completion of the determined by the Action Plan bills, but to focus on protection of them in the process of considering by the Verkhovna Rada. “Nowadays practically all parliamentary forces announce about their attachment to the Eurointegration course. In the first days of the second VR session they will get a perfect chance to prove it in practice and ensure operative approval of necessary for the liberalization of visa regime draft laws,” the Vice Prime Minister underlined.
Moreover, he expressed hopes that the European side will continue tight and productive cooperation with Ukraine’s authorities in the process of implementation of the Action Plan. “We count that our partners in the EU will view cancellation of visas for Ukrainians as a symbol of resuming of historical unity of the large European home,” Kostyantyn Gryshchenko added.
