Estonia Presents Biggest Winter Family Festival
OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2013. In February, when seas and rivers are covered with ice and everything is set for skiing and skating, Parnu hosts a festival for all families. Parnu Ice Festival is Estonia’s biggest winter family festival with more than 20 000 visitors, making Parnu feel as alive as in summer and offering activities for all ages. There is ice and snow, sports and shows, dancing and singing. The highlight of the festival is an open-air concert “Estonian Party”.
The Ice Festival 2013 will surprise visitors with a winter wonderland built entirely out of snow and ice in central Parnu. The Ice City will open doors in the evenings when thousands of lights are lit and reveals it’s amazing glory - ice sculptures, ice cinema, ice restaurant and bar, ice rink with every evening performances and much more. Activities offered by the Winter Park include ice hockey, skating, and sledging, skiing, snow tubing, under ice fishing and, as a novelty, paintball in snow. It also has an adventure trail, BBQ cottages and first spa ever made of snow.
Ice City and Winter Park will be built during Ice Architecture Workshop taking place before the festival (04.-10.02.2013) with young specialists and students from various fields and countries
The highlights of the festival are on two Saturdays. On the 16th of February a spectacular ice and fire show „Ice Symphony“opens the Ice Festival. On the 23th of February the choirs of Parnu county and well-known Estonian soloist, Tonis Magi, gather to the Winter Park to give a heart warming open-air concert in honour of Estonia’s Independence Day.
Ice Festival (16.-24.02.2013) invites all to enjoy the pleasures of winter in Parnu.
Highlights of the festival are:
16th of February – opening show - ice and fire performance “Ice Symphony”. Big hockey show and a demo show of paintball with well-known Estonian sportsmen.
23th of February - “Cake and jam” homely fare festival. Paintball Scandinavian Ice Cup. A big open-air concert “Estonian party”. On Ice Festivals stage will perform: soloist Tonis Magi, accompanied by a band and choirs. Also performing folk dance group Kajaks.
17th of March – skiing sprint.
