OREANDA-NEWS.  January 18, 2013. "If Finland were to use e-solutions compatible with those offered in Estonia, everyone would benefit. For example, the cross-border use of digital signature and digital prescription would be beneficial for all parties involved," told President Toomas Hendrik Ilves in his opening address at the high-level CyberStrat cyber conference in Helsinki.

According to President Ilves, in the future our co-operation in the sphere of e-services could also be possible with Sweden and Denmark: "The successful co-operation of the Nordic countries in the sphere of e-solutions would set an example for Europe in general and our common, trans-European X-Road could become our common goal."

In his opening address at the conference, the Estonian Head of State introduced the e-solutions available in Estonia, and he invited Finland to join the NATO Co-operative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence.

At the conference, top-level Finnish experts of digital issues are discussing the opportunities for reversing cyber world threats to competitive advantages and the strategic reserves of companies.
Among others, Professor of the University of Columbia and popular writer Misha Glenny; the Editor in Chief of the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, Mikael Pentikainen; a specialist in digital forensic expertise, Tomi Tuominen; and a Doctor in Military Sciences, Jarno Limnell, will share their experiences and views at the conference.

At a meeting with the President of Finland, Sauli Niinisto, which took place during his working visit to Helsinki, President Ilves also thanked Finland for its good co-operation in the sphere of e-governance at the end of the last year.

"The more general purpose of the co-operation between our e-governance is to create a common, effectively operating economic space with the free movement of people, goods and services," said the Estonian Head of State.
