OREANDA-NEWS. January 17, 2013. The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has donated a mobile clinic for the early detection of breast cancer to the Zahra Breast Cancer Association under a charity agreement signed at SABIC headquarters in Riyadh on January 15 between Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thenayan Al-Saud, Chairman of SABIC and the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu, and Princess Haifa Al-Faisal, Chairman, Zahra Cancer Association, in the presence of Mohamed Al-Mady, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO.
Dr. Mohammed bin Omar Ba Sulaiman, Deputy Minister of Health for Primary Healthcare, and Dr. Mohammed Saidi, Director General, Genetic and Chronic Diseases Department represented Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabiah, Minister of Health, at the signing ceremony.
Prince Saud said that Saudi Arabia gives high priority to healthcare and disease prevention. “SABIC’s initiative is in support of the Kingdom’s efforts in this direction and demonstrates our strong commitment to work for community solutions, including healthcare.” He praised the national programs initiated by the government to increase awareness of breast cancer and the various free health clinics set up for the early detection of the disease. He further commended the dedicated efforts put up by Princess Haifa and the Al-Faisal Zahra Cancer Association team to spread awareness about breast cancer within the community.
Princess Haifa Al-Faisal extended her gratitude to SABIC for the charitable gesture and other community initiatives. “It is not unusual for SABIC to support such a cause. It is a company with a long history of Corporate Social Responsibility programs that go hand in hand with national efforts,” she said.
She said that the clinic will be located in Al-Jouf region under the management of Zahra Cancer Association’s branch office, which will be set up in the region next year.
