Belarus Raises Retail Prices for Certain Cigarette Brands
OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2013. Belarus is raising retail prices for home-made cigarette brands on January 1, 2013 by 6.3-56.7% depending on the brand, the Tax Ministry of Belarus told reporters.
The price hike reflects the government’s move to raise tobacco excises by 50-100% on January 1, 2013, a tobacco industry expert told.
The largest increase in tobacco prices: Fest brand cigarettes will grow by 56.7% to Br4,700 per pack (USD 0.55 at the central bank’s exchange rate). The lowest increase: Cooper brand cigarettes will grow 6.3% up to Br5,950 per pack (USD 0.7).
Viceroy brand cigarettes will grow 13% to Br7,800 (USD 0.91) per pack, Pall Mall and Monte Carlo – up 12.9% to Br 7,900 (USD 0.93) per pack.
Retail prices of Alliance brand cigarettes will go up by 27% to Br4,950 (USD 0.58), Lucky Strike – up 16.7% to Br10,500 (USD 1.23), Oscar – up 17.6% to Br10,000 (USD 1.17).
The retail price of Winston brand cigarettes will go up by 14.1-19.6% to Br10,500-11,000 per pack (USD 1.23-1.29), depending on the product title, Camel – up 17.9-20% to Br10,800-11,500 (USD 1.26-1.35), depending on the product title.
The retail price of Kent brand cigarettes will grow 13.6-14.3% to reach Br12,000-12,500 (USD 1.4-1.46), West – up 31.9-33.3% to Br9,200-9,500 (USD 1.08 – 1.11).
The price of Fort and Fort 7 brand cigarettes produced by Tabak-Invest shall stand at Br4,100 (USD 0.48) per pack, up 28.1%, Korona – at Br4,600 (USD 0.54), up 24.3%.
At the same time, retail prices of some imported cigarette brands will also grow: Kent Convertibles – Br13,000 (USD 1.52) per pack, up 18.2%, Kent Nanotek – Br13,600 (USD 1.59), up 4.7%, Lucky Strike Click&Roll – Br11,500 (USD 1.35), up 15%, Davidoff Black и Davidoff White – Br12,000 (USD 1.41), up 15.4%.
