OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2013. Belarus’ chemical company OJSC Grodno Azot manufactured Br6.596 trillion worth of chemical products (USD 771.46 million) in January-November 2012, down 3.3% on the year, the company said in an official report posted on the company’s web site.

Commodity output reduced 6.8% to Br578.288 billion (USD 67.64 million).

OJSC Grodno Azot increased fertilizer production 0.9% on the year in January-November 2012 to 675.777 tonnes (in terms of 100% nitrogen). In November alone nitrogen fertilizer output reduced 11.3% to 54,877 tonnes.

Carbamide output expanded 1.7% to 858,429 tonnes (November – down 8.5% to 71,109 tonnes).

Grodno Azot decreased output of ammonium sulphate by 5.8% in January-November 2012 down to 331,490 tonnes.

Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake. The annual capacity is estimated at 305,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid, 645,700 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers, 111,200 tonnes of caprolactam and 55,400 tonnes of methanol.

Grodno Azot is the main producer of liquid ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, methanol, caprolactam, biodiesel fuel.
