Cargo Handling in Klaipeda Port & Butinges Terminal Increased

December of 2012
The total throughput of Klaipeda Port and in Butinges terminal in December of 2012 totalled 3,75 mln. tn of seaborne cargo, i.e. more by 6,3 pct. or by 222,8 thou. tn if to compare with the corresponding period of 2011, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Seaport.
The cargo handling turnover in Klaipeda Port in December of 2012 reached 3,04 mln. tn (+4,1 pct. or +119,9 thou. tn year-on-year), meanwhile 703,4 thou. tn of crude oil (+17,1 pct. or +102,9 thou. tn) were exported via Butinges terminal in December of 2012.
Klaipeda Seaport
The handling turnover of oil products in December of 2012 totalled 796,0 thou. tn; the change is +4,4 pct. year-on-year or more by 33,7 thou. tn than during the corresponding period of 2011.
The handling volumes of fertilizers in December of 2012 dropped to 731,1 thou. tn, the year-on-year change is -6,6 pct. or less by -51,6 thou. tn than during December of 2011. Volumes of containerised cargo handling (calculating in TEU) were 35 797 TEU, i.e. more by +14,6 pct. year-on-year or by +4 574 TEU.
In terms of tonnage the turnover of containerised cargo handling marked an increase as well. Calculating in tons the increase was +2,6 pct. year-on-year or more by 9,6 thou. tn, in total 375,9 thou. tn were handled. The throughput of Ro-Ro cargo in December of 2012 amounted 345,9 thou. tons, i.e. less by -10,2 pct. year-on-year or by 39,3 thou. tn than during the corresponding period of 2011. Calculating in units 18 944 units of this category of cargo, i.e. less by -6,2 pct. year-on-year or by 1 258 units were handled in the Port.
The import of crude oil in December of 2012 was 703,4 thou. tn; the year-on-year change is +17,1 pct. or more by 102,9 thou. tn than during the corresponding period of 2011.
658 vessels, i.e. more by 33,5 pct. year-on-year or by 165 vessels was reported to call the Seaport of Klaipeda and Butinges terminal in December of 2012
In December of 2012 651 vessels, i.e. more by 33,7 pct. or by 164 vessels if to compare with the corresponding period of 2011 were reported to enter the Port of Klaipeda. 7 vessels were reported to moor at the Single Mooring Point in Butinges terminal in December of 2012, i.e. more by +16,7 pct. or by 1 vessel comparing with the corresponding period of the previous year.
