OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2013. An international sleddog race "Jalg 2013" is going to take place on 26.-27.01 in Tehvandi Sport Centre, Otepaa. It is a big event in sled dog sport since there hasn't been in such a large scale race in Estonia before, as well as hopefully a beginning of a nice tradition in Otepaa.

We're waiting competitors from Latvia, Lithuania, Russia as well as from Finland and of course our own racers are on the trail as well.

There are two major classes: skiing classes and sledding classes. The skiing classes have men and women separated and there is a difference whether the skier is pulled by one or two dogs. No gender separation in sledding classes and there are 2-12 dogs pulling the sled.

The distances will be driven through one time in both race days. Start and finish is in Tehvandi stadium area.

Apart the sprint distances (8 and 12 km) there is a mid-distance trail (43 km) the first time in Estonia that involves Tartu Marathon trail and Kekkose trail parts and passes through the beautiful southern Estonian hill country nature.

In the stadium area, visitors can meet the dogs as well as the professional sleddog sportsmen and spend a winsome weekend together.
