Belarus Posts 0.9% Inflation for 18 Days of December
OREANDA-NEWS. January 10, 2013. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 0.9% over the first 18 days of December 2012 and 21.2% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.
The largest increase in retail prices was registered with wheat flour (4.7%), semolina (3.2%), bread and bakery goods (3.1%), butter (2.4%), vodka (2.3%), pasta (2.1%), condensed milk (1.9%), beer (1.2%), fabrics (0.7%), hosiery (0.6%), household services (2.6%), telecom services (13.1%).
Beet prices grew 17.4%, potato prices - up 13.5%, fresh tomatoes – 14.4%, fresh white cabbage – up 11.8%, onions – up 7.6%, carrots – up 4.2%, apples – up 5.1%, bananas – up 2.6%.
As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 108.7% in 2011, although the initial forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stands at 19-22%.
