This was stated by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova Vasile Bumacov at a sitting of the working commission on agricultural problems held by Premier Vladimir Filat. According to him, it was sowed 325 thousand ha of winter wheat, 50 thou. more than last year.

The government also allocated 12 mln leis to support the stock-raising sector. These means were distributed among owners of 26 thousand caws. The compensation for purchase of forage made up 499 leis per each animal.

The funds were provided by Poland, France and Italy and distributed among stock-raising farms. The second tranche of the aid at a sum of 22 mln.leis to refund sowing of winter wheat will be disbursed at the beginning of 2013, depending on a degree of losses caused by the drought. 90 mln. leis more will be refunded after sowing of maize, Vasile Bumacov said.
