Qatar Petroleum Conducted Emergency Response Drill
OREANDA-NEWS. January 09, 2013. Qatar Petroleum Dukhan Operations conducted an Emergency Response Drill. The drill, based on the scenario of a gas leak in the vicinity of the Dukhan Township, involved the partial evacuation of Dukhan Township. This exercise involved approximately 4,300 employees, services contractors & residents, QP and Contractor staff based in Zones 1, 2 and 3B of the Dukhan Township and Dukhan Operations Management Building (DOMB), reported the press-centre of Qatar Petroleum.
The residents and staff were evacuated smoothly to the nearby Dukhan Water Sports Club, which was designated as the safe assembly area. The exercise was part of QP Dukhan Operation’s overall safety and security strategy for its’ operations and assets. Mr. Ahmed Saif Al-Sulaiti, Operations Manager, QP Dukhan, when met, stated that: “H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, QP always emphasis to have a continuous awareness in the Safety and Security of Industrial Cities.” Also Mr. Al-Sulaiti added that:
“The main objective of the drill was to create awareness on the part of our Township’s residents on how to respond in a similar crisis situation and also to test the response capabilities of our Emergency response crews. I am glad to say that the drill was a success. I thank all those who participated in the drill, especially the Ministry of Interior represented by Dukhan Police, Civil Defense, C.I.D, Permanent Committee for Emergency, QP staff and residents.”
