In the presence of Engineer Abdulaziz Jassim Al-Muftah, the Industrial Cities Directorate organized recently a Farewell Party for Engineer Mohammad Jassim Al-Baker (Director of Mesaieed 1996-2012). The event was well attended by department managers, section heads and a number of guests, reported the press-centre of Qatar Petroleum.

In his welcome speech, Engineer Abdulaziz Jassim Al-Muftah, the Director of Industrial Cities, spoke highly of Al-Baker. He described him as an “A person who is well known for his humbleness, dedication, professionalism and love for achievements and challenges.” Mr. Al-Muftah went on to add “Most people associate Mohd Jassim Al-Baker with MIC, but he was also a member of the Ras Laffan Project Team, which supervised the establishment of the Ras Laffan Industrial City.”

Mr. Salem Abdulrahman Al-Wehaibi, the manager of Ports department, also delivered a warm speech about Al-Baker. “I had the privilege to be in the same team that included Bu Jassim and we were tasked to oversee the smooth transfer of the then different divisions and entities of the Port and Municipal services into one QP entity. Even though it was a huge and demanding task and it required endless work and efforts, Bu Jassim remained faithful to his customary smile and accommodating approach. Al-Wehaibi said.

Engineer Al-Baker, a Chemical Engineer graduate of Oklahoma University, spent most of his long career in the service of Qatar Petroleum which he joined in 1982 after spending 4 years with Qatar Fertiliser Company-QAFCO.

Al-Baker was instrumental in establishing the biggest and most productive Industrial Cities in the State of Qatar: Ras Laffan and Mesaieed. As Director of Mesaieed, he was the first to take charge of the management of Mesaieed Industrial City and contributed significantly to the development and steady growth of the city.

“Abu Jassim, on behalf of myself and all the staff of QP, past, present and future, I say: THANK YOU, thank you for doing your best and being the best example to follow”, were the words by which the Director of the Industrial Cities ended his speech.
