OREANDA-NEWS.  January 09, 2013. This is stipulated by amendments to Fiscal Code, passed by the parliament of Moldova at the end of December. The gasoline excise is raised to 3200 leis per t., the diesel one grew to 1330 leis per t. According to the fiscal policy for 2013 approved earlier, the fuel excise was to be raised 5%.

In particular, the gasoline excise was going to be raised from 2885 to 3030 leis per t., the diesel one was to be increased from 1200 to 1260 leis per t. According to the Minister of transport and Road Infrastructure of Moldova Anatol Salaru, the 10.8% growth in the excises instead of the 5% one was determined by a necessity to adjust the excise to both: inflation rate and GDP nominal growth in 2013 to collect more receipts for the Road Fund.

It should be reminded that the International Monetary Fund recommended authorities of Moldova to raise the fuel excises to adjust them to the GDP nominal growth.
