Buick Delivers Best Retail Sales Year Since 2006
OREANDA-NEWS. January 07, 2013. Buick retail sales for 2012 were up 6 percent over 2011 and at the highest level in six years, giving the brand its third consecutive year of retail sales gains. Buick total sales increased 2 percent in 2012 and were the highest since 2007, reported the press-centre of GM.
Retail sales, which are sales to individual customers, are up a combined 80 percent since 2010.
Buick’s retail sales were also up for the eighth consecutive month in December, with a year-over-year increase of 9 percent. Total sales in December grew by 10 percent.
“Buick’s way of doing business is paying off,” said Brian Sweeney, vice president of Buick Sales and Service. “Our third straight year of growth is the result of beautiful design and quality engineering, a customer-focused dealer network, and opportunities like Experience Buick leasing. Our move into a new segment with the Verano sedan is paying off, and soon we’ll have the Encore in dealerships as well.”
Nearly 40,000 Veranos were delivered in the luxury sedan’s first full sales year. Verano continues to bring new customers to Buick showrooms, with one in two owners trading in vehicles from brands outside General Motors.
Enclave ended the year as Buick’s top-selling retail model, with more than 50,000 vehicles delivered to customers. December was the best month of retail sales ever for the luxury crossover, with sales up 10 percent year over year. Total Enclave sales in December were up 9 percent.
The new 2013 Enclave, which went on sale in November with updated styling, new technology, and industry-exclusive safety features, is in high-demand. According to JD Power PIN data, its time spent on dealer lots is about 16 days, less than half of the industry average for midsize crossovers.
