OREANDA-NEWS. January 4, 2013. Recently, the major media reported that the first Type A subway carriage for Line 14 of Beijing Subway rolled off the production line in Qingdao. The reason that the subway carriage attracted the high attention of Chinese people is because the subway carriage is first made in China with lightweight and non-coated stainless steel. It has the advantages of high corrosion resistance, low maintenance cost, low carbon green, safe, reliability and comfort. 80% of the localization part of the carriage body is made with TISCO’s 301L stainless steel. TISCO’s stainless steel captured people’s attention again.

Type A subway carriage made in Qingdao is designed specially for Line 14 of Beijing Subway. This line is the first subway line that adopts stainless steel Type A carriage in Beijing Subway. Line 14 will operate 63 trains; each train is made up of six carriages. The carriages will be produced by CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co. Ltd. and CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co. The carriage made by 301L stainless steel is not only aesthetic but also with high anti-crash properties and providing best protection for the passengers.

TISCO got the information when Beijing made the planning to build the Line 14 in 2009. Then TISCO’s research and marketing personnel started to visit the market, actively promoted and communicated with the two carriage producers to produce the Type A carriage with TISCO’s 301L stainless steel which is dedicated for the passenger cars. Because TISCO’s products have good reputation and been used in CRH, light rail, Type B subway for many years and TISCO has good cooperation credibility in the industry, TISCO won recognition of Beijing Subway and the two producers again. All the parties concerned reached an agreement and worked together to build the Type A carriage first with stainless steel instead of aluminum alloy, which also shows that stainless steel not only is beautiful in appearance but also has the advantages of practical, safe, comfort and low carbon green.

In addition, all the axles of the subway trains of Line 14 are produced by the axle steel produced by TISCO. That shows that TISCO’s products are also used in the manufacture of the body and axle of the subway carriages of Line 14 under construction, the longest line of Beijing Subway.
