OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2012. The organizations of SK MOST Group of Companies have started building a new bridge over the Don River at the 280th kilometer of Morozovskaya - Volgograd section of Privolzhskaya Railway Line.

Three bankseats (Number 2, 9, and 10) have been completely erected by the end of November 2012. Support No. 1 is being built. Grillage for the channel support No. 5 is being concreted in a pit protected by sheet piling. Drilling operations are conducted for support No. 6. Excavation and sheet piling are going on in preparation for building support No. 4. Lunching piers are being built on the left river bank in preparation for bridge span structure installation.

The bridge design: 33.6+4x77+110+154+132+33.6 meters. The total bridge length is 791.96 meters. In addition to the bridge building, the project includes building new railway approach tracks to merge with the existing tracks and erecting bridge service and security guard buildings.

The new bridge is built 50 meters upstream from the existing bridge. The bridge will support traffic of freight trains weighing up to 12 thousand metric tons moving at a speed of up to 90 kilometers per hour. The new bridge is to be commissioned in 2015. After the new bridge has been opened for traffic, the old bridge will be closed for reconstruction for the fourth time to upgrade it for compliance with modern requirements.
