Combined Enfield and Vincent Oil Production Exceeds 100 mn Barrels
OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2012. The Enfield (production started in July, 2006) and Vincent (production started in August, 2008) oil fields reached a truly significant project milestone when gross production from both fields reached 100 million barrels in early August 2012. These fields were jointly developed by the operator Woodside Energy Ltd. ("Woodside") and Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Ltd ("MEPAU"), a 100% subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui"), where each company holds 60% and 40% interest respectively.
To celebrate this achievement, a commemorative ceremony was held on November 13, 2012 in Perth, Western Australia, and a total of 24 participants from both companies joined the event.
The Australian oil and gas operating environment is safe, reliable and stable, and Enfield and Vincent contribute to the stable energy supply for the Asia Pacific region. Woodside, the largest oil and gas E&P company in Australia, with vast experience as an operator, has been our valued partner since the 1980s in various projects including the North West Shelf LNG project. The development of Enfield and Vincent oil fields has further strengthened Mitsui's relationship with Woodside.
Mitsui has continuously viewed the Oceania region as one of its core areas in its Exploration and Production (E&P) business. To enhance Mitsui's E&P business in the region, MEPAU acquired a 40% interest of several oil fields including Enfield and Vincent from Woodside in 2004. Ever since production commenced from Enfield in July 2006, both oil fields have been one of the pillars supporting Mitsui's E&P business. Mitsui will continue to work and cooperate with Woodside with the same commitment towards safe operations, and is dedicated to pursue optimum production of the oil fields as well as further development of our business in the region.
