Domodedovo Airport Reports November Results
OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2012. A total number of 2,080,266 passengers used the services of Moscow Domodedovo Airport in November 2012, which represents the increase by 12.5% compared to the relevant period in 2011. The total number of flights in November increased by 5.9% and made a total of 19,967 take-offs and landings.
In November the biggest growth in the passenger traffic has been recorded in international airlines(IAL) adding 14.5% to November 2011, reaching 1,174,836 passengers.
Passengers of domestic airlines(DAL) totalled 905,430 in November 2012, which is 9.8% more than last year.
A total amount of passengers for the January-November period is 26,091,030 travellers. The growth is 9.3% compared to the relevant period in 2011.
The domestic passenger traffic for the period of eleven months is 10,684,645 passengers, which is 13.9% more than last year. The biggest growth has been recorded on routes to/from Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Anapa, Chelyabinsk. Passenger numbers on these routes were 2,789,000 travellers, or 22.6% more than for period of eleven months in 2011.
For the period of eleven months passengers of international airlines(IAL) totalled 15,406,385 passengers (added 6.4% to the relevant period in 2011). The biggest growth has been recorded on Minsk, Barcelona, Kiev, Paphos, Erevan routes. In January-November 2012 the passenger traffic on these routes totalled 1,560,000 passengers and increased by 42.5% compared to the same period in 2011.
For the period of eleven months in 2012 a total number of take-offs and landings is 232,920 which is 4% more compared to the relevant period in 2011.
Cargo traffic at Domodedovo Airport in November 2012 grew by 7,3% compared to November of a previous year, reaching 18,639 tons. The increase in January-November 2012 compared to the same period of 2011 is 4,1% which is 177,265 tons.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia in terms of passenger traffic. In 2011, total passenger traffic of the airport amounted to 25,7 million people which let Domodedovo become the first Russian airport to join the category of the largest airports in Europe on the classification of the Airports Council International (ACI). Domodedovo is the base airport in Russia for member airlines of two largest global airline alliances – oneworld and Star Alliance. According to the annual survey by the independent research company Skytrax Research (UK), Moscow Domodedovo Airport tops the list of the best airports in Eastern Europe in terms of the service quality.
