Gazprom Finishes Heat Supply System Reconstruction
OREANDA-NEWS. December 26, 2012. The Petrodvortsovy district of Saint Petersburg hosted celebrations today dedicated to commissioning of the most large-scale project within reconstruction of heat supply facilities in the city – a 419 MW boiler house in the Lomonosov municipality.
Taking part in the events were Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of Saint Petersburg, Valentin Kazachenkov, Director General of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Saint Petersburg, Sergey Gustov, Director General of Peterburgteploenergo.
The heat supply area of the reconstructed boiler house covers the Lomonosov and Peterhof municipalities (427 buildings). After the reconstruction the installed heat output of the boiler house increased by 31 per cent from 320.17 to 419.4 MW (electric output increased to 4.012 MW).
Upon commissioning of the boiler house in Lomonosov, Gazprom completed the program for construction and reconstruction of the heat supply system in the Petrodvortsovy district of Saint Petersburg.
In 2007, when the company began launched this activity, the efficiency of the obsolete and worn out boiler houses was only about 60–70 per cent in the district. Now, this figure has increased to 93 per cent.
A substantial reserve of heat output- about 285 MW – is created. It is more than the entire Lomonosov consumes today and two and a half times more than the connected load in Peterhof. This reserve ensures further large-scale development of the Petrodvortsovy district.
The environmental situation is improved. Two coal-fired boiler houses and old fuel oil-fired facilities are eliminated. Natural gas that replaced them is the most environmentally-friendly kind of fuel.
The maximum reliability of heat supply to the State Peterhof Museum Reserve is guaranteed – now two independent sources provide heat to this unique cultural and historical complex.
“Previously, the heat supply system in the Petrodvortsovy district was in an awful state. Regular accidents resulted in permanent shutdowns of heat and hot water supply equipment. Gazprom has changed the situation. New high-tech networks must serve at least half a century and residents of Lomonosov, Strelna and Peterhof will finally receive heat without interruptions. Starting next year, summer hot water outages will be ended in the entire district. Especially important is the fact that natural gas will improve the climate of one of the most beautiful districts of Saint Petersburg,” said Alexey Miller.
Lomonosov also hosted a festive opening of the health and fitness center built as part of the Gazprom for Children program.
The new sports facility is designed for a variety of sports activities. In particular, it has a multi-purpose gym with equipment for futsal, handball, basketball and volleyball, aerobic and weight rooms, as well as Lomonosovo's first large 25 meter swimming pool.
The complex can accommodate 150 people in the gym, aerobic and weight rooms at a time, and up to 50 people in the swimming pool.
Besides, three similar health and fitness centers were opened today in the Kirov, Vyborg and Krasnoselsky districts of Saint Petersburg. They were built as part of the Gazprom for Children program.
“Gazprom is doing everything possible to enable an increasing number of children and young people practice sports. This makes our country stronger!" said Alexey Miller.
Background
Construction and reconstruction of the heat supply system in the Petrodvortsovy district of Saint Petersburg was carried out by Peterburgteploenergo (100 per cent subsidiary of Mezhregionteploenergo, part of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Group) between 2007 and 2012.
In general, 29 facilities (including two coal-fired boiler houses) with installed output of 596.91 MW (connected load – 406.81 MW) were leased to Peterburgteploenergo in the Petrodvortsovy district. Their service life exceeded 30 years. 24 boiler houses with the installed heat output of 719.72 MW (electric output – 4.012 MW) were constructed and/or reconstructed. These facilities are connected to a total of 1,226 buildings including 711 residential houses, 19 dormitories, 2 hotels, 29 child care centers, 34 medical institutions, 30 schools, 48 educational institutions, 77 socially significant buildings and 276 other buildings.
With that, between 2005 and 2012 Peterburgteploenergo constructed and/or reconstructed 203 boiler houses, 29 central heating plants, 1 individual heating plant, 2 power units, 1 dispatch center, laid 863,85 kilometers of heat supply networks in the Petrogradsky, Kurortny, Petrodvortsovy, Tsentralny and Admiralteisky districts. The total installed heat output of the commissioned heat supply sources makes up 2.32 GW (electric output – 8.612 MW).
Starting from 2008, Gazprom has been building health and fitness centers in Saint Petersburg as part of the Gazprom for Children program. All the constructed facilities are donated to the city on a non-repayable basis. Between 2008 and 2012, 15 health and fitness centers (including those opened today) were built in different areas of the city. Design and estimate documents are almost ready for two health and fitness centers – in Nevsky and Krasnogvardeysky districts. These facilities are to be commissioned in 2015.
In addition, design of a track and field facility on Krestovsky Island is completed and currently it is under construction. Commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of 2014.
