OREANDA-NEWS. December 26, 2012. The photo shows that Academician Zhang Qifa was making an academic report at the “10th International Congress on Plant Molecular Biology”.

At the 6th International Society of Crop Science Congress held recently, Academician Zhang Qifa, also the Deputy General Manager of China National Seed Group Co., Ltd. (Sinoseeds) under Sinochem Group and Director of the Life Science and Technology Center, China Seed Group Co., Ltd., was presented the “International Outstanding Crop Scientist Award”.

This award issued by International Society of Crop Science Congress is aimed to honor scientists in crops science with remarkable reputation around the world. International Society of Crop Science Congress pointed out in the award presenting speech that Academician Zhang Qifa had devoted all his life to research in crop science and made original contributions. Three scientists around the globe won such honor.

International Society of Crop Science Congress is an authoritative academic event in the world of crop science held every four years, which provides a platform for researchers in crop science from different countries to exchange academic achievements and discuss future development of crop science. Key research contents that have aroused continuous discussions among scientists worldwide include diversification of crop science, crop science and water shortage, future sustainability of crop science, crop molecular biology, crop resource innovation, crop genetics and breeding, and crop science and agricultural transformation.

In addition, Academician Zhang Qifa, as Member of the Science Advisory Board, led the expert panel of the Life Science and Technology Center to attend the “10th International Congress on Plant Molecular Biology” also held recently. At the congress, Academician Zhang Qifa was elected President of the next congress.

The 11th International Congress on Plant Molecular Biology will be held in Brazil in 2015. The congress is a significant academic event to show the latest research achievements in molecular biology and new developments in biotechnology.
