Sinochem Fertilizer and Shell Signed Agreements for Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2012. Sinochem Fertilizer Co., Ltd. under Sinochem Group signed two cooperation agreements with Royal Dutch/Shell Group (hereinafter referred to as Shell) in Beijing, according to which both parties would collaborate on production of sulfur enhanced fertilizer and sulfur trade as well.
Slow-release sulfur fertilizer products (sulfur enhanced diammonium phosphate), which are going to be produced by the two companies through collaboration, can not only supplement sulfur but also play a great role in controlling bacteria and insects, promoting decomposition of plant residues and reducing pH value of alkaline soil.
Feng Zhibin, CEO of Sinofert Holdings Limited, and Carlos Maurer, General Manager for Product Development and Investment of Shell, attended the signing ceremony. Before then, both parties had reached the consensus in previous talks that they would take this opportunity to carry out more extensive and long-term cooperation in the principle of honesty, responsibility and mutual benefits.
Sulfur is a secondary element needed by the growth of crops, and deficiency of sulfur in soil will directly inhibit the crop growth. Studies show that application of sulfur in areas lack of such element can achieve significant yield increase by around 7%-15%. As China has about 40 million hectares of cultivated land deficient in sulfur and a potential sulfur deficient area of 20 million hectares, the market for sulfur enhanced fertilizers sees broad prospects.
