Ricoh Sees Strong Momentum in Legal Services
OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2012. Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced new industry recognition for its legal information solutions, including eDiscovery, and the expanding capabilities of its supporting technologies.
New industry rankings from legal journals throughout the country affirm this progress with high marks for the company, including:
• The New York Law Journal: Ricoh #2 in eDiscovery, #3 in document management.
• The Legal Intelligencer (Philadelphia): #3 in eDiscovery, #1 in office equipment.
• Connecticut Law Tribune: #1 in document management and #1 in office equipment.
• The Recorder (Calif.): #1 in document management.
• The National Law Journal: #2 in document management.
Ricoh’s legal document services
Ricoh is the largest provider of legal document services in the country, providing a full suite of services for law firms and corporate counsel. Customers include the majority of the AmLaw 200 and NLJ 250 firms, and the legal departments of many Fortune 1000 companies. Proficient legal information management helps reduce costs, improves efficiency and frees employees to focus on the law. One particular area of growth is Ricoh’s eDiscovery solutions.
eDiscovery refers to the identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, analysis and production of electronically stored information (ESI) in support of litigation. As more information is stored electronically in more places, the challenge of organizing it on demand is increasing. Ricoh was recognized twice for eDiscovery this year, reflecting the build-out of the company’s infrastructure and its growing reputation in a highly competitive industry.
Ricoh now operates more than 40 document processing centers, half of which process local electronically stored information for eDiscovery, and four data centers around the country dedicated to eDiscovery services. In addition, the company operates domestic and offshore coding facilities with total capacity to code five million pages per month.
“eDiscovery is a complex process,” said Eric Wangler, Vice President, Legal, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “If not managed effectively, it can lead to heavy penalties, which in fact have reached an all-time high. Our expert project teams, proven methodologies and powerful infrastructure enable law firms and corporate counsel clients to move smoothly and cost-effectively through the eDiscovery process and increase their chances of successful outcomes.”
Ricoh’s growth in legal solutions offerings includes a seamless integration with the former HSSK Forensics, Inc., a leading computer forensics and electronic discovery provider that Ricoh acquired earlier this year. Ricoh gained HSSK Forensics’ RemloxTM remote data collection tool and the HSSK Forensics lab in Houston, the first private computer forensics lab accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB).
Ricoh also provides clients with an eDiscovery portal to help them streamline workflow and control costs. The portal integrates early case assessment tools with the predictive coding of Relativity® Assisted Review, all through Ricoh’s state-of-the-art data center.
